“Vegas to cali: Highway Dreams 2025, May, 16”

This work documents and archives the act of drawing a line on a car window over the course of 1 hour and 51 minutes during a drive from Las Vegas to California. While the line may appear to be a simple, momentary gesture, it interacts with the shifting landscape and the passage of time, revealing to the viewer the intersection of sustained action and fleeting moments.

The background landscape is constantly changing, with its light, color, and forms creating a rhythm that contrasts with the static presence of the line. The repetitive act of drawing, simultaneously mundane and ritualistic, symbolizes a moment in which an individual leaves a trace of their existence within time and space. Ultimately, the line is wiped away and disappears, reflecting the ephemerality and irreversibility of presence.

Through the disappearance of this physical trace, the work explores the relationships between moment and continuity, stillness and movement, and existence and impermanence. Viewers are invited to notice the interaction between the changing environment over time and the rhythm and order generated by an apparently subtle act. In this sense, the work functions not only as a “record of an action” but also as a “visualization of time.”
